Marianela Boán

Marianela Boán is an internationally recognized choreographer and one of the most important artists of the Cuban and Latin American dance vanguard. Her revolutionary style "Dance Polluted" radically mixes all the arts associated with dance, producing an expressive and original scenic result. As a choreographer, dancer and teacher, Boán has worked in more than 40 countries presenting her works and giving workshops in numerous venues and festivals in Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa. She has created nearly 70 choreographic works for dance, theatre, TV and film companies.

She has won important choreographic awards as a member of Danza Contemporánea de Cuba from 1973 to 1988 and as the founding director of the companies DanzAbierta, Cuba, 1988-2003, BoanDanz Action USA, 2005-2010 and the Compañía Nacional de Danza Contemporánea of the Dominican Republic, since 2010 until now. The Encounter of Women of Latin America in the Performing Arts, 2014, paid homage to her life and professional work by awarding her the Glo prize.

She obtained a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Dance at Temple University, Philadelphia, where she served as a teacher. She has also been the head of the Higher Institute of Arts Cuba (ISA) and has contributed to the education of several generations of Cuban and Latin American dancers.
Between 2002 and 2010, she maintained an intense work-rate in the USA for companies and institutions such as Dance Theater Workshop, American Dance Festival, Bates Dance Festival, New York University, Joyce SoHo, La MaMA, etc.

Marianela Boán currently lives in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where she founded and currently directs the National Company of Contemporary Dance of the Ministry of Culture, which has met with great success in Cuba, Colombia, Costa Rica, Spain, Peru and USA. Her most recent works are "Sed" (2011), "Caribe Deluxe" (2013), “Propulsion” (2015) and “Defilló” (2017).

 

Daymé Del Toro 
She was born en Guantánamo, Cuba. She graduate from the Cuban National School of Dance. She was member of two Cuban dance companies; Danza libre y Danza Teatro Retazos. As a dancer she performed at International Dance Festivals in France, Spain, Equator, Holland and México. She has participated as a choreographer and dancer in Edanco Festival in Dominican Republic and won three choreographic award. She is a current dance professor at the National Dance School in Dominican Republic (Endanza) and dancer and professor at the National Contemporary Dance Company of Dominican Republic (CNDC), with this company she has participated in several International Dance Festivals in Colombia, Costa Rica, Spain, Cuba and Peru and participated in the pieces of many international choreographers.

 

Erick Roque Montero 
He studied in Núcleo Extremo Hip Hop school and has taken workshops with choreographers like Brandon Barton y Chase Benz. He is member of Grupo Extremo Company. He has won several National Hip Hop competitions and worked with the most important dancers and choreographers in the country. He is a Hip-Hop professor. As a current member of the CNDC he has participated in several International Dance Festivals in Colombia, Costa Rica, Spain, Cuba and Peru and participated in the pieces of many international choreographers.

Eleana Patricia Ortega Pérez
Professional dancer of contemporary dance. Graduated from the school "Expressions and Dance Soraya Gallardo" and from the modern dance group of APEC University, UNAPEC. Bachelor in dance from the National University of Costa Rica, UNA, with a degree in dance teaching from the State University of Costa Rica, UNED. Dancer of the Contemporary Dance National Company of the Ministry of Culture and director of the independent dance group Zócalo. Currently, she is a professor in "Movimento Centro de Formación" at APEC University, UNAPEC. She has participated in different dance events and festivals in the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, the United States and French Guiana.

 

MIldred Rubirosa
She was part of the National Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, with which she participated in the National Games of 2000, the Pan-American Youth Games of 2002, and the Pan-American Games of 2003. Graduated from the National School of Dance (Endanza) with contemporary-folkloric mention. She studied dance during a semester at UNA, Costa Rica. She has participated in festivals such as; 1st National Festival of Dance Academies, Youth Dance Festival, Edanco. She is currently a dancer of the CNDC, with which she has participated in different events and dance festivals in the Dominican Republic, Spain, Cuba, Colombia and Peru.

 

Evelyn Tejeda
She is a urban, contemporary and experimental dance dancer; teacher and choreographer. She has acted as jury and event organizer. She is part of the Contemporary Dance National Company of the Dominican Republic, touring to different dance festivals in: Suriname, Cuba, Colombia, Spain, Peru, United States, Haiti and Costa Rica. She holds a Master of Performing Arts from the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid, Spain. She has also been Elite Judge of Hip-Hop International, coaching to the Royalty groups in Hip-Hop International 2013; DaRepublic, V-Block, Mint Hip-Hop International 2015. Jury in the HHI Dominican Republic 2016, in Mas Roberto, Urban War of Here Spanish is spoken. Jury in categories Varsity and MegaCrew in the Hip-Hop International 2016 held in Las Vegas Nevada. LabsHHoperzON founder of the project which caused great advances in the culture of urban dance and Hip-Hop in Rep. Dom. Residence as Hip-Hop teacher at Western Michigan University and workshop in Rome, Italy Promotes RD. Assistant choreographer in the Reality Show Who Dances Best Rep. Dom. Vs Puerto Rico 2008, and belonged to the Hip-Hop group Step N 'Floor winners of 1st place in various competitions.

 

Jonás Padilla
Graduated from the National School of Dance (Endanza). He has participated in festivals as Edanco, Danza Joven and Funglode Dominican Film Festival. As part of the of Contemporary Dance National Company of the Dominican Republic, he performed at the Havana International Theatre Festival.


Hendel Herrera
Student of the National School of Dance (Endanza). He has participated in festivals as Edanco, Young Dance, Juvenile Endanza and in the re-inauguration of the National Theater. As part of the Contemporary Dance National Company of the Dominican Republic, he performed at the Havana International Theatre Festival.
